PILATES CLINIC

SMALL GROUP PILATES IN CLITHEROE

This is Pilates tailored to your body

Here at The Pilates Hub, based in Clitheroe town centre, we specialise in small group sessions using a range of equipment, tailored to your individual needs and goals.

We want you to feel comfortable, confident, and safe while practising with us. So, we've created a welcoming space for you to improve your core stability, build strength, boost your wellbeing, and leave with a smile on your face.

Our most popular classes!

Our Pilates Clinic small group classes are our signature service. They blend the personal touch of a private session within the encouragement and camaraderie of a group environment.

Incorporating an individualised mix of Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel and Matwork exercises, classes feature a maximum of four people to ensure you get exactly what you need from your workout.

You'll be given tailored exercises from a qualified Pilates teacher to work specific muscle groups and areas, depending on your needs.

Whether you're desperate to feel more comfortable in your body, want to tone up and strengthen, or need to rehabilitate from an injury or operation, this is the ideal way to boost your strength, flexibility, posture, wellbeing, and mobility.

“Having tried Pilates classes in the past I had reservations about whether it was for me as I had found some exercises expected of the class impossible to do. Joanne, however, offers a personalised service adjusted to take account of each person’s bodily ‘quirks’.

Every week she will check and see how I am feeling, where it hurts and what I would like to focus on. This allows for steady progress to help me manage my back pain and sciatica. Sessions are relaxed and chatty with only 2 or 3 other clients, and I continue to enjoy them .

I would recommend Joanne to anyone, but especially those with medical conditions causing pain which has been restricting exercise.”

How it works

You'll begin with an Initial Consultation to discuss your health background and what you want to achieve, as well as conducting a full postural assessment.

You’ll be surprised how much your body holds onto: it could be a recent injury or ailment, or that broken bone from childhood that’s causing discomfort and limitations years later.

Once we’ve delved into your history to understand where you’re at, you'll have an introduction to the fundamental principles of Pilates and do some basic exercises so we can assess your muscular balance, mobility and flexibility.

All of this is to keep you safe while exercising with us and ensure your time at the studio has the maximum impact on your health and wellbeing.

For rehabilitation and injuries it is important that you have been cleared by your doctor or surgeon before you begin exercising.  Please complete the health screening form sent to you prior to your consultation, and bring along any notes from your doctor or health practitioner that may be helpful.

Without Joanne’s tuition I would be leading a very different restricted life, constantly in pain and very stiff.

"Joanne is a fantastic Pilates instructor, in her Pilates Clinic, the workout is structured directly for me, working on specific injuries and surgeries that I have had.  She has great intuition and is very caring in her approach.

Without Joanne’s tuition I would be leading a very different restricted life, constantly in pain and very stiff.

I highly recommend her as a teacher especially for anyone with injuries, both new and old."

Meet the equipment

Joseph Pilates designed a range of equipment to be used together to obtain maximum benefit from your Pilates session. No one piece should be used exclusively and at The Pilates Hub we utilise all this equipment to keep your session varied and maximise the benefits.

Angela's Story

I started my midlife love affair with reformer Pilates back in November 2022. I had been struggling with a couple of very long term injuries - damaged knee and broken coccyx  -  and my physical activity was virtually non-existent. After my first bout of covid in the Summer and an emergency gallbladder operation (completely out of the blue), I was a bit lost and approaching my mid-fifties. I wanted  to improve my fitness levels and also ensure I was giving myself the best chance of remaining as well and mobile as possible in my 60s and beyond. I wanted to focus on a combination of improving flexibility and strength with some cardio.

I met Joanne for a consultation and she immediately put me at ease by understanding the two injuries I carried - that and the fact that she is a good soul who hails from my hometown.  I did feel slightly trepidatious as Reformer Pilates was only one part of the plan  - I had started at the gym with weight workout classes and also returned to yoga which was a long-time love of mine - and I wasn’t convinced my body would be able to do what might be asked of it in any of the classes. Also, I had looked on social media where Reformer posts are full of young, athletic dancers/gymnasts/fitness enthusiasts who are doing some incredibly spectacular moves on the machines.

I am not an anxious person but my first semi-private class was almost cancelled numerous times. I’m so glad I didn’t cancel - it took a few weeks for me to relax but once I did, I started to love it and look forward to Monday nights.

That first class was a blur but now almost two years has passed and I still go to workout classes at the gym; still practice yoga and still attend Reformer class every week. Joanne also runs some additional half day Saturday sessions where we have a circuit class using different pieces of floor based equipment alongside the reformers and finish with coffee and cake - a perfect way to start a Saturday!

Even when my knee is causing me problems or another part of my body has decided to stop working for no particular reason, I still go to class because it’s one of the few things that I can continue to do - Joanne always asks how your body is feeling at the start of class and modifies / refines plans to allow you to get the most out of the session. Joanne always runs the sessions with kindness and humour but she absolutely knows how to assist each client to continuously push themselves and improve.

My posture; flexibility; strength and confidence in my body’s abilities has improved over the past two years and the issue with my knee, while not cured, is definitely less troubling and I can’t remember the last time I took ibuprofen, whereas I was taking it a couple of times a week previously.

If you are considering Reformer classes with Joanne, do it! Your body will thank you and who knows, it might be the start of a new love affair!

Last month I was hanging off one of the pieces of equipment with my arms and legs and my back arched - I may not be 21 anymore, but I still got moves !
