“I believe Pilates should be for every body”

Hello. I'm Joanne Cornish, an experienced Pilates teacher based in Clitheroe at the heart of the Ribble Valley.

I discovered Pilates in 2006 following spinal surgery. Weekly sessions helped my body recover and my mind cope with the stresses of an international corporate career.

Five years later, I stepped out of corporate life and trained to be a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher with the Pilates foundation - an intensive 1200 hour, two year programme which included 500 hours’ teaching practice. The training included in depth coverage of rehabilitation of specialised conditions

Pilates lineage is categorised by generations, with the first generation of teachers - ‘Pilates Elders’ - being trained by Joseph Pilates himself. As one of very few fourth generation teachers in the UK, I can trace my teaching directly back to the origins of the practice.

Why choose me as your Pilates teacher?

I set up my first Pilates studio in 2012. Shortly after, following a diagnosis of severe arthritis, I underwent the first of my hip replacement surgeries.

Once again, Pilates came to the rescue, enabling me to fully rehabilitate my hips post-surgery.

I have a passion and gift for helping women feel comfortable in their bodies and specialise in providing individualised small group sessions for rehabilitation, posture improvement, and general wellbeing.

My studio is a safe space for us to be ourselves.

I know how it looks and feels to exist in a real body, and I’ll make sure you always feel comfortable and confident in my studio.

When you step inside, the first thing I ask is:

“How are you feeling today?”

This way, I can ensure every session is defined by you and your goals, so you progress at your pace and see lasting improvements to your body and mind.

What’s different about my Pilates classes?

My approach to Pilates goes beyond basic matwork or Instagram-friendly reformer  sessions.

The traditional practice of Pilates is a full body core conditioning workout that covers five key elements:

  • Matwork
  • Reformer
  • Cadillac
  • Wunda chair
  • Ladder barrel

In my Pilates Clinic and Pilates PT classes, no two sessions are the same.

You receive my full personal attention and I customise your session every time to address your pressing physical needs.

You walk out of the studio feeling physically strong and mentally grounded, ready to handle anything life throws at you.

Feel lighter in body and mind at the Pilates Hub

Pilates is about so much more than having a toned body.

It uses concentration, muscle control, and breathing to improve your bodily awareness so you feel taller, toned, relaxed, energised and strong.

Pilates is for everyone. Whatever your age, gender, fitness levels and circumstances, there's a space in my studio for you - a healthy and happy future awaits you.
